Joplin resident Tim Chiles was able to audition for the fifth season of “American Idol” after winning a contest held by the local Fox affiliate. He advanced through the Chicago auditions and made it to the next round in Hollywood before being cut. Each week, he’ll offer his picks and pans during the countdown to the naming of this season’s winner.
