Forrest and Christine Reed
Forrest and Christine Reed, Joplin, Mo., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Southwest Missouri Bank Community Building, 7th and Duquesne, Joplin.
Forest Reed and Christine Claxton were united in marriage on March 27, 1964, at the Church of Christ, Konawa, Okla., while both were students at Oklahoma Christian College, Edmond, Okla.
The lived in Edmond for three years and Joplin for the past 47 years.
Christine attended Oklahoma Christian College for two years and after moving to Joplin, graduated from Missouri Southern State University in Elementary Education. She worked at United Founders Insurance in Oklahoma City and taught 4th Grade at Lafayette and Cecil Floyd elementary schools in Joplin, for 19 years. Forrest received Bachelors' in Math Education at Oklahoma Christian College and Masters in Science-Mathematics from Pittsburg State. He taught Mathematics at East Junior High and Memorial High School in Joplin, where he also coached football and track. He then owned a computer business in Joplin (ComputerLand) for a short time and is currently Director Quality Assurance for EaglePicher Technologies.
Forrest and Christine have been active in the Mount Hope Church of Christ in Joplin, formerly located at 4th and Forest, since moving to Joplin.
Forrest and Christine feel blessed to follow a family legacy of marriages lasting over 50 years. These marriages include both their parents, Lewis and Ona (Yeager) Reed and Dr. Freeman and Inez (Irwin) Claxton.
The couple have three children, Robin (Reed) Meyer and husband, Jeff, Sioux Falls, S.D., Russell Neal Reed, Joplin, and Garrett Claxton Reed, St. Louis, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Jackson and Audrey Meyer.
In lieu of gifts, bring memories to share. Forrest and Christine look forward to visiting with their friends and family.

John and Linda Carver
Linda (Snook) and John Carver will celebrate 50 years of marriage on April 24, 2014.
They were married April 24, 1964, at First Baptist Church, Galena, Kan.
John retired from FAG Bearing in 2002. Linda has enjoyed being a homemaker on the family farm.
They were blessed with two daughters, Amy Jo Gandy, who passed away Dec. 8, 2009, and Brenda Lee Hill, who passed away Dec. 14, 2009. They have five grandchildren.
Family will be hosting a come-and-go celebration in honor of their milestone on Saturday, April 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Galena Community Room, 211 West 7th, Galena.

Ernest and Sally Betterton
Ernest Jr. and Sally Betterton, of Joplin, Mo., will celebrate their 69th wedding anniversary on Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 2 to 4 p.m. at their residence. The celebration will be hosted by their grandchildren.
Ernest Betterton and Sally Watkins were united in marriage on April 5, 1945. They have lived in Kansas when their children were young and moved back to Missouri.
Ernie was a medic in the United States Army, once returning home he married Sally. Ernie worked at Yellow Freight, where he later retired from to enjoy time with family.
The couple were previously members of Blendville Christian Church. They loved to go to dinner and dances with fellow friends.
Their children are Scott Betterton, of Joplin, Eva Temczuk, Omaho Neb., and the late Ernest Craig Betterton, of Joplin; four grandchildren, Tracy Case and husband, Chad, Justin Betterton and wife, Anne, Paula Nelson and husband, Shawn and Carrie Jones and husband, Taylor; and seven great-grandchildren, Hailee, Wyatt and Emilee Case, Mikah and Izabella Betterton and Conner and Alexis Nelson.
