CJHS athletes enjoy productive summer

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. - Several athletes from Carl Junction High School honed their skills this past summer by advancing to national competition.

The Sudden Impact softball team competed in the 18-and-younger Triple Crown National Tournament July 23-28 at Park City, Utah, and came away with fifth place.

The boys basketball CJ Dogs, 4-0, won the Silver Division of the AAU Powerade Invitational July 28-31 in the Johnson County Park & Recreation District's Okun Fieldhouse at Shawnee, Kan.

The volleyball team had two players, Mica Dalton and Tesia Lahm, make all-Webb City Spikefest.

The Sudden Impact roster included sisters Amanda and Katie Storm, twins Kaitlin and Kelsey Wilson, Mannie DeCastro, Sagan Graskemper and Andrea Herron. Completing the roster were Carthage's Amber Beckner, Girard's Lisa Curran and Joplin's Morgan Amayo and Jodelle Kirk.

Herron and Katie Storm, a sophomore, are teammates at Neosho County Community College of Chanute, Kan.

Sudden Impact coaches are Rich Storm, Amanda Walker and Corey Walker.

The CJ Dogs, coached by John Bennett and Bob McKay, had eight players from Carl Junction - Paden Bennett, Joseph Fauvergue, Justin Garretson, Martin McKay, Steven Tackett, Nathan Thomas, Dan Ware and Peter Zimmerman.

College Heights' Andrew Chaney and East Newton's Jon Ringstaff rounded out the CJ Dogs.
