The Joplin Globe Newspaper In Education (NIE) program is proud to sponsor
the 2009 Most Beautiful Baby Contest. All contest proceeds will benefit the
NIE program to help provide newspapers, teacher resources and lesson plans
to schools in the Globe’s circulation area. NIE delivers sponsored copies
of the Joplin Globe to hundreds of classrooms and teachers in Missouri, Kansas
and Oklahoma.
To Enter Contest
1) The contest is open to babies born after Jan. 1, 2007 to the present.
2) There is a $20.00 fee to enter your baby in the contest.
3) To enter the contest by MAIL or IN-PERSON, please submit the $20.00 entry
fee and a completed entry form along with a high-quality, close-up 3 X 5 color
or black/ white photo of the baby. Photo should be vertically positioned with
baby’s name on back of photo.
? Entry forms will be printed in the Joplin Globe daily October 22, 2009 through
November 3, 2009.
? Mail your completed entry to: NIE 2009 Most Beautiful Baby Contest, The

? Entries may also be dropped off in person at The Joplin Globe, 117 E. 4th
St., Joplin, MO 64801, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
4) To enter the contest ONLINE, visit www.joplinglobe.com and click on the
“Most Beautiful Baby Contest” icon. Submit the entry in three
simple steps:
? Complete the entry form
? Upload baby’s photo AND name digitally as directed. Uploaded photos
should be vertically positioned and submitted in a JPG or TIF format at a
minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
? Submit the $20 entry fee by credit/debit card as directed.
5) For accounting purposes, entries must be submitted ENTIRELY by mail, in-person
or online. For example, you cannot register partially by mail and then pay
online, or vice versa.
6) By submitting a baby’s photo to the contest, the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of the contestant authorizes the Joplin Globe to publish the baby’s photo in the newspaper and on www.joplinglobe.com, along with baby’s name. The baby’s photo may also be randomly selected for use in ads throughout the contest. Photo quality is important. The Joplin Globe reserves the right to refuse any photo unsuitable for publication. All decisions are final. No photos will be returned and no camera phone photos will be accepted.
7) All contest entries must be RECEIVED at the Joplin Globe, via mail, online or in-person, by 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The Joplin Globe will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, late, postage-due, misdirected or illegible entries, whether originating with the sender or at The Joplin Globe. All entries become the property of The Joplin Globe.
Voting/Round One
8) A showcase featuring all contestant photos will be published in The Joplin Globe on Sunday, November 8, 2009 and on-line at www.joplinglobe.com from Sunday, November 8, 2009 through Tuesday, November 24, 2009.
9) In Round One, readers will cast votes for their favorite photo to narrow
the pool of contestants to 40.
10) To vote in Round One by MAIL or IN-PERSON, complete the voting ballot
that will be published daily in the Joplin Globe beginning Monday, November
9, 2009 and continuing through Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Votes are 25-cents
apiece, and you may vote for as many contestants as many times as you wish.
? Mail the completed ballot(s), along with your check or money order for your

ballot, and submit your online payment for votes by credit/debit card as directed.
? Online voting is limited to persons over 18 years of age or restricted by
law. Votes are 25-cents apiece, and you may vote for as many contestants as
many times as you wish. There is a minimum of $5.00 for each online ballot.
? Round One online votes must be RECEIVED at the Joplin Globe by 5 p.m., Tuesday,
Nov. 24, 2009.
Voting/Round Two
12) The Top 30 contestants from Round One will be published in The Joplin Globe on Sunday, November 29, 2009.
13) To vote in Round Two by MAIL or IN-PERSON, complete the voting ballot
that will be published daily in the Joplin Globe beginning Thursday, December
3, 2009 and continuing through Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009. Votes are 25-cents
apiece, and you may vote for as many contestants as many times as you wish.

Winners/Prizes
15) One lucky contestant receiving the highest total of votes will become
the 2009 Most Beautiful Baby Contest winner! Top three winners will receive
great prizes provided by Liberty Bank, Freeman Health System and Community
Bank & Trust.
Prizes include:
? 1st Place: Two $200 savings bonds, one $200 value baby pampering gift basket
and a full-page color photo in the Joplin Globe
? 2nd Place: Two $100 savings bonds and one $100 value baby pampering gift
basket
? 3rd Place: Two $50 savings bonds and one $50 value baby pampering gift basket
Top three winners will be announced in the Joplin Globe and parents of winners
will be contacted to let them know their status.
Final Notices
16) This contest is officially sponsored by The Joplin Globe Newspaper In Education program.
17) By participating in this contest, entrants agree to be bound by these Contest Rules and the decision of The Joplin Globe. The Joplin Globe reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this contest as solely determined by The Joplin Globe. The decisions of The Joplin Globe regarding the selection of winners and all other aspects of this contest shall be final and binding in all aspects.
18) Joplin Globe employees are prohibited from entering a baby in the contest or voting.
