Celebrate
50 Years with Branson's First Show
Family
entertainment and fun are an important part of the Branson tradition.
The Baldknobbers Jamboree, now celebrating its golden anniversary,
started that tradition in 1959 when the four Mabe brothers began entertaining
visitors coming to Branson. The Mabe brothers adopted the name of
an old Ozarks vigilante group that held their meetings on a treeless
hilltop or “bald knob.”
Today’s Baldknobbers show is a musical powerhouse featuring
a talented cast of dynamic singers, musicians, comedians and entertainers
as they perform your favorite country classics, hot new country hits,
toe-tappin’ gospel and lots of side-splitting comedy.
Guests are entertained from the moment they step foot into the theater,
with two hours of power-packed music and comedy guaranteed to entertain
all ages — all of which established the benchmark for what Branson
is today, the “Live Entertainment Music Show Capital of the
World.”
Tim Mabe, comedian and Baldknobbers producer, says, “Family
comedy has been a central part of the show. My dad and uncles framed
good clean comedy around great country music, and the formula they
started still exists today, not only in our show, but many of the
Branson shows.”
Join the Baldknobbers in 2009 as they celebrate their golden anniversary
and be part of the legend! For more information, call 800-998-8908.

Pierce
Arrow Hits the Mark
The
talent overflows in the Pierce Arrow Show, from the world’s
lowest bass singers, according to the Guinness Book of World Records,
to masterful harmonies and expert entertainers. Everything from hot
country, old country, pop, southern gospel, contemporary christian
music or patriotic tributes — these gentlemen truly love what
they do and it shows.
Providing comic relief is Jarrett Dougherty, known as one of Branson’s
funniest comedians and for his many hysterical characters. You never
know who might show up! He is the comic spark that sets off explosions
of laughter. You might just stop, drop and roll in hysterics.
Desta McAuliffe, Branson’s beautiful ray of sunshine, will bring
you all the current musical styles as well as your most beloved country
songs. At age 24, Desta carries with her the elegance and composure
of any seasoned artist. Kim Boyce, former Miss Florida with many contemporary
Gospel hits, lights up the night at the Pierce Arrow Theater. Kim
is a beacon of pure talent and grace when she lifts her voice, singing
in her award-winning style.
Pierce Arrow is family fun for all ages. You’ll laugh like never
before. You’ll love the smooth sounds and rock-the-house Gospel,
and be stirred by the patriotic medley. If you’re looking for
a show that will make you laugh out loud and send you home with a

From
the novel of the same name written by Harold Bell Wright in 1907,
until now, you will see its influence everywhere.
In 1907 when the book was published, it quickly became the fourth
most widely read novel in the United States. The book also was made
part of school curriculums across the Midwest corridor for its great
historical authenticity. As a result, tourists started flocking
to the area to see the places written about and to meet the actual
people from the book.
Hospitality was just as great then as it is now, and the locals
not only made the visitors feel welcome and right at home, but also
started performing little scenes of the book on the front lawns
of their homes to rave reviews. Over the years, this production
was expanded. Now there is an outdoor theatre where the entire book
is depicted with great detail and excitement, making it the most
performed outdoor drama in America.
As you travel around Branson, look for the names “Old Matt’s
Guest House,” “Baldknobbers,” “Shepherd
of the Hills Expressway,” “Aunt Mollie’s Inn,”
“Little Pete’s Road,” “Dewey Bald,”
“Shepherd of the Hills Realtors” and more — all
of these businesses took their names directly from the book.
Don’t miss The Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Drama at Old
Mill Theatre — it is still history in the making. For more
information, call 417-334-4191. You can also visit their Web site

Pleasant Winery

beautiful ledgestone building will offer patrons the chance to sample
Mount Pleasant’s numerous celebrated wines while relaxing

where Andy Williams performs, Mount Pleasant’s Branson facility
is not far from “the strip,” making the winery a great
place for theatergoers to unwind between shows.
Founded in 1859, Mount Pleasant Winery is the oldest winery in Augusta,
Missouri, the first government-appointed wine-growing district in
the United States. The winery grows 12 varieties of grapes on its
